The Rousey Home Place is in central Kentucky, about 50 miles SSW of Lexington.
It is about 15 miles SSW of Danville, KY and somewhat near
the towns of Junction City and Hustonville.
It is just outside of an area called Butchertown near the county lines of Casey and Boyle.
The Old Rousey Homeplace is located on the Boyle / Casey County
line on Carpenter Creek and Butchertown Rds. These roads are
essentially the same road. Take the rock entrance up the hill. Once
on top you can take the left fork in the road to get to the Rousey Cabin.
From North (Danville) 127
Take 127 South to Junction City (about 3 miles). Go through the stoplight (HWY 300) where Hardee’s is on the left and turn right in about 1/4 mile at Knob Lick Rd across from a Shell Mart. Go .6 mile to dead end and turn left on Hwy 37 West. Go 7.6 miles and then turn left on Carpenter’s Creek Road. Go 1.5 miles and turn left just past a concrete bridge into the Rousey Homeplace. A Reunion sign will mark the place.
Alternately, you can turn right at the stoplight in Junction City onto highway 300 and go about a mile to just past the railroad tracks and turn left onto Hwy 37 west (White Oak Road). Follow 37West for about 8 miles and turn left on Carpenter’s Creek Road. Go 1.5 miles and turn left just past the concrete bridge up a hill into the Rousey Homeplace.
Directions to farm via Hustonville
- From north, take 127 south to Highway 78. Turn west (right) at the gas station/convenience store.
- From Liberty (south), take 127 north to Hustonville.
- Turn left going west on HWY 78 at the gas station/convenience store.
- Once on Highway 78 West Go 0.8 miles.
- Turn right just before a bridge, onto Black Pike. Go 0.5 miles on Black Pike to Maxey Valley Road.
- Turn left on Maxey Valley Road and go 0.7 miles.
- Turn right on Carter School Road and go 1.4 miles to Butchertown Road.
- Turn left on Butchertown Road and go 4.3 miles (road goes up a hill and curves around it to the Butchertown and is narrow in places). Stay on the paved road.
- Turn right up the hill to the Rousey Homeplace just before a bridge. There are fieldstone posts at the entrance.
